We are dedicated
to protecting and advancing the rights of children with disabilities in
matters involving disputes with Maryland school districts. We will
attempt to resolve disputes at the earliest practical time, but we also
prepare for litigation. The source law for special education is the
Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (“IDEA”), 20 U.S.C. Section
1400, et seq., which was reauthorized in 2004 under the Individuals with
Disabilities Education Improvement Act of 2004 ("IDEA 2004"), Sec. 601,
et seq. In Maryland, the IDEA is implemented through the Maryland Code,
Md. Educ. Code Ann. Section 8-401, et seq. The law affords specific
rights for all disabled students between the ages of 3 and 21. Our
attorneys will help parents and guardians to obtain school compliance
with federal and state laws and regulations. Wellens & Jablon, LLC is
committed to enabling parents to actively and effectively advocate for
their children. We are dedicated to providing professional and
compassionate legal assistance in these sensitive and important matters.
